Life Style

Why not relax and enjoy the surroundings. The Hungarian people are very welcoming and extremely helpful and by their sense of community can sort out any problem you may have, even if its to find someone who can interpret for you. Being a part of the European Union, although not yet full members, English is now widely taught in schools. One of the main attractions of Western Hungary is the wildlife, it is a haven for, birds, animals, wild flowers, also lakes and woodland. Some properties having their own lookouts.

A great part of Hungary still remains very rural and here in the Western Regions the land is well, lush with farming, forestry and lake areas the most famous being Lake Balaton.

There are many thermal spas in the area which are extremely therapeutic and are visited quite frequently by locals and many other nationalities, HevĂs the best known and, is also a Hydro Hospital. The area is ideal or walking, cycling, fishing and hunting is permitted by licensed groups, this includes deer and wild boar. Why not enjoy the outdoor life, with a picnic and a few glasses of your own wine!

If you are very adventurous Hungary is bordered by now 8 recognised countries. From where we are situated the drive to Italy is about 3 hours. Most of the rural villages have their own village shop and bar, quite often combined, so as to make it a community gathering place. The post office van is also the post office and it will stop at your gate if requested. Most locals use this to pay their bills i.e. gas, telephone , electric etc. If you want to do a 'big ' shop you can drive or take the bus to the supermarkets, these including well known names such as Tesco, Lidl, Interspa, Aldi, the nearest to us being Tesco, which is approximately 10 miles away on easy main roads. You are also never too far from D.I.Y superstores etc. If you are thinking of a nice rural retreat, you may like to consider that many of these rural plots still have allotment type strips of land generally 2500ms belonging to them and these are usually vine yards set up on the slopes surrounding the village and are quite separate from the main property. Quite often Summer Chalets are built on these sites and families spend Summers there while tending to the vines.

The Hungarian population is round the 10,000,000 mark, the most concentrated areas being round Budapest, the capital, and obviously the other major towns which are expanding with new industrial sites so there is definitely a healthy growth in the economy. The rest of the country is still very rural so the trend being that the youngsters from these rural villages seek housing and employment in the larger towns and cities. Therefore the older family homes are becoming available in the rural areas. The cost of such properties varies throughout the region the older and not modernised being sold at a very reasonable prices. Even those which have been modernised are an ideal investment.
